I have produced two newsletters in my career - both called "LINKS" (I had nothing to do with the naming- trust me).
The first was a newsletter at the KU J-School sent to all alumni donors. I designed and helped write/edit the first edition back in the late 90's as a student. Then, when I returned as a staff member of the J-School, I volunteered to help produce it again. I gave it a facelift and hired one intern per semester to help write and edit the stories. I also created an on-line newsletter with more in-depth stories and photos so we could help keep printing costs down. At the end of each story was a link to read "the rest of the story."
At Smith & Loveless, I do much the same thing. This newsletter is given to employees and our sales rep force each month. It includes company and product info and additional features can be found on-line, such as product bulletins and graphics, as well as a handy way for reps to check out trade show art for their next show. |
